01 · On the Move · Venice
Getting Around Venice
Getting around Venice is straightforward: a walkable downtown, county Breeze transit along the coast through the Historic Venice Train Depot hub, Breeze OnDemand rides in the Venice zone, and easy airport access north at SRQ and south at Punta Gorda. Parking downtown is easy too, with the Centennial Park lot's 3-hour free window.

01 · Fixed-Route Buses
Breeze Transit
Breeze Transit is Sarasota County's public bus network, running fixed routes on set schedules. It connects downtown Sarasota, the airport (SRQ), shopping districts, and communities from Bradenton in the north through North Port in the south. Not every route runs every day, so check the schedule for your specific route before you head out.
Riding is simple in three steps: plan your trip in the Breeze Rider app or the web trip planner, wait at a signed Breeze stop, and pay when you board. If you are ever unsure, ask the driver.
- Single ride fare is $1.50, and Route 99 is free. Monthly passes are available.
- Pay with exact cash or the Token Transit app (cashless mobile fares arrived April 25, 2026).
- Buses generally run from about 5am to 11pm Monday–Saturday and 6am to 10pm Sunday, and some routes have no Sunday service. Always check the official schedule.
- Free WiFi on board, curb “kneel,” ramp access, space for up to two wheelchairs, and exterior bike racks.
- Schedule and trip help by phone: 941-861-5000, or dial 311 from a Sarasota County phone.
Plan trips and see live bus times in your browser at breezerider.tripsparkhost.com, with official schedules at scgov.net/government/breeze-transit, and the Breeze Rider app tracks buses in real time.
02 · Curb-to-Curb Rideshare
Breeze OnDemand
Breeze OnDemand is Breeze's curb-to-curb, on-demand ride service, operated with the Via platform and requested through the Breeze OnDemand mobile app, the official web page, or by phone. Fares are distance-based, roughly $3 for short trips and up to about $6 for longer ones, and trips must start and end within the same service zone. Once a request is submitted, the destination can't be changed, so double-check your zone before you book.
Service areas include Siesta Key, Lido Key / Longboat Key, Venice / Englewood, and North Port. Zones occasionally shift as demand changes, so confirm the current zone map when you book.
- Request a ride in the Breeze OnDemand app or online, or call (941) 300-1553.
- Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available by request.
03 · Accessible Transportation
Breeze Plus
Breeze Plus is the county's public paratransit service for riders qualified through the ADA, Transportation Disadvantaged (TD), and Veterans Medical Transportation programs. It offers door-to-door rides, and riders must complete an eligibility-based application with a disability documented by a qualified medical professional. Approval can be temporary, conditional, or unconditional.
- Fixed-route buses are wheelchair-accessible: ramps, two wheelchair positions, and kneeling buses, plus free WiFi.
- Approved riders typically book paratransit trips up to 7 days in advance.
- Eligibility and registration run through the Breeze Transit Mobility Coordinator; the program moved to a new operator (Via) in 2026, and existing riders transferred automatically.
- Seniors 80+ ride free on fixed-route buses and trolleys (show ID to the driver), and children 5 and under ride free with an adult. Check the official page for the current policy.
Need eligibility or application help? Call 941-861-1018, or call 941-861-5000 for general Breeze questions.
04 · Free Trolley
77 Siesta Islander
The 77 Siesta Islander is Sarasota County's free, open-air trolley on Siesta Key, operating daily year-round from about 8am to 10pm with a trolley roughly every 20 to 30 minutes. It is the easy way to get around the Key without a car, connecting Siesta Key Village, Siesta Beach, South Village, and Turtle Beach Park and Campground. The trolley used to continue across the bridge into downtown Sarasota; that mainland extension ended in April 2026, so it now stays on the Key. Check the official 77 route map for the exact stop list.
- Free to ride, no fare.
- Runs daily year-round, about 8am–10pm, every 20–30 minutes.
- Holiday notes: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve run shorter hours (about 8am–8pm), and New Year's Eve runs late, until about 1am. Check the schedule around holidays.
- Bikes are not carried on this trolley (no rack), so plan to walk or park near your stop.
- Live tracking via the Breeze Rider app.
05 · Free Trolley
78 Bay Runner
The Bay Runner is the free, open-air trolley funded by the City of Sarasota and operated within the Breeze network as Route 78. It links downtown Sarasota (starting near Main Street and School Avenue), crosses the John Ringling Causeway to St. Armands Circle, and ends at Lido Beach and Ted Sperling Park. It runs seven days a week with a trolley roughly every 20 to 30 minutes. Use the official route map for exact stops.
- Free to ride, no fare.
- Hours: about 7am to 10pm Sunday–Thursday and 7am to 11pm Friday–Saturday, with modified holiday hours.
- The Bay Runner carries bikes on its exterior rack.
- Track the trolley with the Breeze Rider app.
06 · Free (Tips-Only) Rides
The Frog Hop
If you hear locals talk about the “Frogger,” this is the service: The Frog Hop is a free, tips-only, on-demand ride service on Siesta Key, with airport and all-of-Sarasota-area runs to Siesta Key per its official site. Bright green vans and an open-air trolley make it easy to spot. It runs daily, 365 days a year, roughly 8:30am–11:30pm with later weekend hours, so confirm current hours by phone before you rely on it.
- FREE to ride, with driver tips appreciated.
- Call 844-FROG-HOP (844-376-4467) or book at froghopsiesta.com.
