Understanding the Seasons

Best Beach Weather

March - May, October - November

Low humidity, warm sun, and gentle breezes make these months ideal for beach days. Water temperatures are comfortable for swimming from April through October.

Rainy Season

June - September

Afternoon thunderstorms are a daily occurrence, usually brief and intense. Mornings are typically clear and beautiful. Plan outdoor activities before noon.

Hurricane Season

June 1 - November 30

Peak risk is mid-August through October. Modern building codes and preparedness measures make the risk manageable. Always have a plan.

Snowbird Season

January - April

The population swells with seasonal residents. Restaurants and attractions are busier, but the energy and events calendar are at their peak.

Dry Season

November - May

Comfortable humidity, blue skies, and minimal rainfall. The most pleasant time for outdoor living and the reason people fall in love with Florida.

Year-round

USDA Zone 9b-10a allows for year-round gardening. Citrus, bougainvillea, and tropical plants thrive. Many vegetables grow through the winter.
