Understanding the Seasons
Best Beach Weather
March - May, October - November
Low humidity, warm sun, and gentle breezes make these months ideal for beach days. Water temperatures are comfortable for swimming from April through October.
Rainy Season
June - September
Afternoon thunderstorms are a daily occurrence, usually brief and intense. Mornings are typically clear and beautiful. Plan outdoor activities before noon.
Hurricane Season
June 1 - November 30
Peak risk is mid-August through October. Modern building codes and preparedness measures make the risk manageable. Always have a plan.
Snowbird Season
January - April
The population swells with seasonal residents. Restaurants and attractions are busier, but the energy and events calendar are at their peak.
Dry Season
November - May
Comfortable humidity, blue skies, and minimal rainfall. The most pleasant time for outdoor living and the reason people fall in love with Florida.
Growing Season
Year-round
USDA Zone 9b-10a allows for year-round gardening. Citrus, bougainvillea, and tropical plants thrive. Many vegetables grow through the winter.

What to Pack by Season
The key to dressing for the Gulf Coast is layering. Air conditioning is ubiquitous, so even summer evenings indoors can be chilly.

Spring (Mar - May)

Fall (Oct - Nov)
