Urgent Care
For non-life-threatening needs, urgent care is the faster, less expensive step than an emergency room. The SMH urgent care locations below generally run daily, typically about 8am to 8pm. Hours can change, so call ahead, and remember urgent care is not for emergencies.

Pharmacies
The major chains, including CVS, Walgreens and Publix Pharmacy, operate throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties, and most have 24-hour or extended-hour locations nearby. Because locations and hours change, the reliable move is to locate the nearest pharmacy by app or search and confirm its current hours by phone before you rely on it. A full directory of every location is not useful here and would go stale fast.
Many urgent care and emergency departments can also handle short prescriptions in a pinch; for a medication emergency, call the pharmacy or your provider first, and 911 if it is life-threatening.

Sarasota Memorial provides emergency care for patients of all ages, including children, with pediatric services at its campuses. For a child's medical emergency, do not hesitate: call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, and let the care team handle the pediatric details.
